At present, the mainstream ambient air quality monitoring sites are of the following types:

1. Urban ambient air quality assessment sites: monitoring sites set up for the purpose of monitoring the overall status and changing trends of air quality in urban built-up areas, mainly for participating in urban ambient air quality assessment;

2. Pollution source monitoring sites: monitoring sites set up to monitor the impact of the main fixed pollution sources and industrial parks and other pollution source gathering areas on the local ambient air quality, mainly used for monitoring pollution source emissions and environmental assessment;

3. Traffic monitoring sites: monitoring sites set up to monitor the impact of road traffic pollution sources on ambient air quality, representing the areas on both sides of the road and nearby areas affected by road traffic pollution sources in people's daily life and activities;

4. Ambient air quality assessment regional sites: monitoring sites set up for the purpose of monitoring regional air quality status and the regional transmission and influence of pollutants, participating in regional ambient air quality assessment;

5. Ambient air quality background monitoring sites: monitoring sites set up for the purpose of monitoring the background level of ambient air quality in a country or a large area.
